Gallery Information
David Zwirner opened its doors in 1993 with a small storefront on Greene Street in New York City and soon established itself as a home for innovative, emerging artists working across various media. Over the years, the gallery has helped foster the careers of some of the most influential artists working today.
In 2002, the gallery moved to its present location in Chelsea and soon expanded to allow for independent, full-scale exhibitions to be mounted simultaneously in three adjacent spaces. In May 2010, David Zwirner’s secondary market gallery, formerly operated with Iwan Wirth as Zwirner & Wirth (on Manhattan’s Upper East Side), re-opened in Zwirner’s Chelsea location.
The gallery’s focus is on private sales in the secondary market and presenting historically-researched exhibitions and publications devoted to the work of modern and contemporary masters.
