Hunar Gallery, opened to the public in 1998, combines a distinguished history of displaying fine art paintings, pewter, bronze and ceramics with a modern-day welcome to all through a busy calendar of exhibitions and events.
The name Hunar might intrigue many as it is not derived from Arabic or English, the two languages where we are usually inclined to borrow artistic terms. It is instead derived from the Persian word for art, and was selected to encompass the comprehensive meaning of art.
Hunar Gallery is one of the most prestigious galleries in Dubai and the region and is rapidly gaining a high reputation for fine art. The aim is to encourage the public throughout the UAE and beyond to value and enjoy art. The gallery is always working towards supporting the increasing role art plays
at all levels of public education and is well known for bringing top international artists to Dubai, over the years presenting more than 80 exhibitions of 150 renowned artists.
The gallery is located in Rashidiya close to the Dubai Airport Expo in a modern two storied Villa. Paintings and artworks are displayed in five areas over the two floors of the gallery and are divided into themes such as portraits, landscapes, calligraphy and abstract art..
The gallery, owned by Mrs Al Anood Al Warshow, greatly encourages local as well as upcoming talents and participates in the UAE art fairs including Menas Art Fair in Beirut, Lebanon.
In 2009 L’Officiel Magazine selected Hunar Gallery as the best Dubai gallery and in 2010 Mrs Al Anoiod Al Warshow received the first Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Patrons of the Arts Awards for Art Promotion.
