Gallery Information

October Gallery, founded in 1979 in London, exhibits art of the transcultural avant-garde, the ‘Transvangarde’. From the outset, the gallery played a pioneering role in the promotion and exhibition of contemporary art from all around the world. The gallery has been instrumental in bringing to international attention many outstanding artists from the Middle East, Africa and the Orient, including Rachid Koraïchi, El Anatsui, Romuald Hazoumè and Kenji Yoshida.

October Gallery presents six to eight exhibitions per year and collaborates on loans, acquisitions, exhibitions and catalogues with many different institutions including the V&A; British Museum; Museum of Arts and Design; Metropolitan Museum of Art; New Museum; Garage; Centre Pompidou; Museum Kunstpalast; Setagagya Art Museum and GOMA.

October Gallery also runs a major educational programme, houses a café and theatre, hosts talks, seminars and performances and provides a cultural hub in central London for artists, poets, musicians, writers and intellectuals.
