3D Shoe Design with Sultan Al Darmaki
Sultan Al Darmaki, the eminent Emirati shoe designer, whose work was recently acquired by the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, will lead a workshop, during which he will discuss the “history of shoe making" and share some of his expertise and tips in building an international fashion brand. He will also guide participants through the process of designing their own shoes. Participants are free to imagine and sketch their own fantastical shoe designs on paper, and then will be shown how to transfer their sketches onto a cobbler’s shoe last. Through hands-on experience, Al Darmaki will reveal how designers go from 2-dimensional drawings to 3-dimensional objects and how creative designs are interpreted to become elegantly crafted footwear. If you are thinking of launching your own fashion brand or simply have a fascination with shoes, Al Darmaki will be available to answer all your queries in-depth at the end of the session.
Each workshop has a fee of AED 50 per person (non-refundable). All design-work produced can be taken home. No previous design experience needed. Prior registration required. Please call +971 2 657 5800 or email manaratalsaadiyat@tdic.ae for enquiries and bookings. Design workshops are for adults and teens aged 16 years and above.
